Euan Smith

Over a twenty four year career, Euan has developed a depth of experience in strategy, planning and business analysis. Euan spent 15 years in senior operational and project management roles in the oil and gas and food and drinks industry. He is trained as a Six Sigma process improvement Black Belt and has undertaken significant development and project management assignments throughout the world. Euan established Sorton Partners in 2004 to help and support clients with business start up, funding, strategy, planning and analysis. During this time he has worked closely with Highlands and Islands Enterprise and the Business Gateway to help establish and grow more than 400 small to medium sized enterprises including third sectorand social enterprises. The key skills that Euan brings to assignments are:

- Business strategy and planning skills
- Project planning skills, particularly for large, complex projects involving a range of sub contractors
- Strategic thinking and clarity
- Exceptional data analysis and interpretation skills
- Significant knowledge of the rural economic agenda and funding sources to support rural businesses

Euan holds a BSc in Physics and Computing and is a member of the Institute of Business Consulting. He is
acting Chair of the Management Council for Orkney College (part of the University of the Highlands and Islands)
and has a strong interest in the role of education in the development of sustainable economies.

Responsible at both strategic and operational levels for the performance of the business.

Full operational and developmental responsibility for this major manufacturing company based in central Scotland.
1990 – 1999 Senior Project Manager Wyman Gordon Ltd
Managing all aspects of capital projects for the Oil and Gas and Aerospace industries.
